Ariel’s Pooh experiences

Filed under: Uncategorized — christineng @ 6:51 am

pooh party

Ariel's favourite character is Pooh Bear.   We made our way to Centrepoint one morning after we knew that the Pooh and friends will be there on "Meet & Greet" session.

When it was our turn, Elkan and Kyla pinicked and only Ariel was brave enough to stand on her own.  Well done, Ariel!!

If you looked carefully, you can see that Elkan was punching Tigger Tiger while clutching my neck for support.  And Kyla was hanging onto Paul as a koala bear,  too distraught to even face the camera!

ariel birthday

Ariel celebrated her 3rd birthday with the family two Sats back at a chinese restaurant.

She is the one in yellow with her grandma hugging her.  Grandpa (Paul's dad) is absolutely delighted to be able to hold / carry his only grandson after so long.  He had a stroke two months back and was not able to speak or move the right side of the body.  But now, after the physiotherphy, he was able to walk and use his right hand again!  Speech recovery is still in the progress and looking at him now, he does not look any diiferent from before except he lost some weight.  I think his motivational forces are his grandchildren who kept asking him to get well soon!

Thanks for all your prayers.  I pray too that he will continue to get better!

Good news?

Kyla was down with fever ( again!  after Ariel's turn last week).

Being a working mom, there was this constant nagging guilt that I should take urgent leave to look after her.  Instead of packing her off to the childcare.  But I just took 3 days urgent leave last month when Elkan was down with fever.  So there was this tug of war within my heart, to be a good employee or a good mother.  In the end, I went on to work and left her at the childcare.  But I set my heart to speak to my GM personally about doing a part time job so that I can spend more time with my kids.

I spoke to my GM and he is perfectly open for the idea for a part time position for me!!  Hurray!

But he is not keen for me to do the training programme as I intially wanted to as he felt I can contribute more if I can stay on in merchandising.  So he promised to discuss with my current boss on the options available.  Gave him the time-line that I would prefer to be able to work part time by next next year.  So it is another 6 months to go.

Part time vs full time

Filed under: Uncategorized — christineng @ 2:20 am

I have been toying with the idea of being a stay home mom instead of a full time working woman and a part time mother!

My better half ( my hubby, of course!), supports me fully and encourages me to do what I wanted to.  But he has this concern that I may turn into one of those aunties who do not bother about how they look and they will just wear their cotton nightwear to the market.  Or I may turn into this nagging woman whose main concern is the rising prices of the vegetables or whether the baby pooed or not for the day.  Thus he is more comfortable if I can do something else on a part time basis so that my mind can be kept active and I will still bother to slap on that powder and lipstick before I step out of the house everyday.

And so I began this long search for part time job or free lance job.

I am currently working in the retail line doing merchandising.  And my interest is in the product development for kids wear.  So maybe I can do the product designs and sell to interested parties?  Or I can do some product developments and sell to stores?

Suddenly I had this idea on doing part time training for the company that I am working for.   Spoken to my current boss and she is very understanding!  (Being a mother of 3 herself).  She is open for the idea and promised to speak to my GM tomorrow!  Wish me all the best!!

Signed, full time worker part time mom!

Who is he?

elkan

Hi, my name is Elkan.  Youngest in the family at 15 months old but in no way the weakest one.  You can challenge that by trying to take away the biscuit that I am happily munching and I will make sure that the whole neighbourhood will hear about it, and of course my mummy!!

They said that I look like "Jack Jack" from the Incredibles movie.  I disagree totally.  I am much cuter!

My favourite food is whatever my sisters are having.  Whether it is porriage, noodles, rice, etc, I will make sure that I am not left out when mommy is dishing out the portions.

I love my aunty's Val's dog named Vicky.  And I will always share my food with her cos my aunty refused to give her any snacks that I am having.  I wonder why?  And mummy always screamed when I shared my food with the dog.  Adults are so funny.  I thought they always teach us to share?  I will take one bite and offer it to Vicky.  Then I will take another bite before offering to the dog again.  Fair what!

My favourite uncle should be Uncle Fabian.  He loves to carry me around and always gives me what I want.  Whether it is the fizzy drink that he is drinking or the second piece of chocolate.  I will turn my pitiful eyes on him and point to the food and he will pass them to me.  Not like my mummy, whose favourite word is "no"

Signed, Elkan chan aka monkey chan

genting trip

This was taken on our trip to Genting last Nov 2005.

The kids enjoyed themselves so much that Kyla is asking when are we going again.  The thoughts of spending 6 hrs on the road from here to Genting with 3 cranky kids really scared us nuts!!

Maybe Kyla, when you and your siblings are all much older.  Else mom and dad will go "mad" again!!

ariel’s birthday cake

Filed under: Uncategorized — christineng @ 8:02 am

ariel's third birthday is coming soon and she insisted that she wants her birthday cake with the character strawberry shortcake.

And so being the best mom that I can, I began my long search for the cake shop that does strawberry shortcake character.  I searched high and low.  But I couldn't find any cake shop that does this character.  So I asked the birthday girl whether she can choose any character.  Immediately tears welled up in her big eyes and no she can't.  She must have her strawberry shortcake!!

I had to call up my contact ( GM of a licensing firm) whether there is any cake shop that can do the character.  He confirmed that no cake shop had signed up the character and thus no cake shop can do it!!  But he was nice enough to offer a hard copy of the character and a confirmation that he will not sue any of the cake shop that is willing to do for me!

And so I am back to square one, begging the cake shops to do the character and promising them that the principle / licensor will not sue them.  Finally I got one who is willing to take the risk.
