We went to Gold Coast for holiday during the National Day Break ( around early August)

Here’s some pics we took at the beach, which is literally at our door step!

The water was freezing.  Cold winter wind chilled us to the bone.  But the kids do not mind!  Picking sea shells and playing with the waves.  They had such a great time!  The beach is just at our service apartment.  We just need to pass by a gate and we are at the beach already!

back, finally!

I have been away for the whole of last week, from monday till sat.  Monday was to Hong Kong, then taking a train to Guangzhou.  From Guangzhou to Dong Guan on Wed.  Then Dong Guan to Hong Kong on Thursday.  Lastly, Sat back to Singapore.

Missed the kids terribly!  The feeling on monday before my flight was dread.  Kyla was down with ear infection on Sat and Elkan develop a fever on sunday night.  So I left the house with a heavy heart on the dark monday morning.

That makes me even more determined to do something that does not require me to travel.

On my flight back on sat night was a feeling of expectation and excitement, back finally.

a sad moment

Filed under: Uncategorized — christineng @ 4:35 am

Attended a funeral wake last night.  For a friend that had lost her mother to cancer.

Friend M was strong and had faith in our God that her mom will be well taken care of in heaven.  The mom’s only regret was that she has to go so soon, and not able to see her granddaughters grow up.  The first question she asked friend M everytime when M visited her in the hospital was, ” How are the girls?  Are they coping well with the changes?  Are they eating well?”  etc…..

And for M, the regret was also that she had only 31 years with her mom as she is only 31 years old this year.  Her mom was the person she turned to, everything she had any problems with kids, jobs etc.

Another friend SW sms me this morning and asked for prayers for her mom, who had been diagnosed with colon cancer.  And we shared more, about how cancer is so prevalent nowadays.

My thoughts now turned to my mom, whom I had been taking for granted.  I expected her to be there all the time, whenever i need help, advice or that nourishing chicken soup that she will faithfully prepare every month for us.  I had never thought that she is getting old too.  And one day, she will have to leave the earthly world.  In my mind, she will always be the fiesty lady who can handle all her five kids at one time, using the cane whenever we misbehave.

From now on, I resolve to talk to her more.  Bringing her out for shopping, meals etc.  Basically to spend more time with her.

Kid’s words

kids

It was 2 October.  A school holiday as it was children’s day on 1 Oct, sunday.

Childcare was closed and mommy had to take leave from office to look after the 3 monkeys.  We went cycling in the morning.  Lunch was home cooked porridge and they walloped up everything.  After their afternoon naps, it was to the playground and the kids really enjoyed themselves.  In the late evening, while waiting for dear hubby to return with dinner, I decided to prepare the kids on what’s to come next year when I stop work.

Me : Girls, do you like mommy to stay home with you the whole day, just like today?

Kyla + Ariel : Yeh!!

Me : But if mommy don’t work, it means that mommy will not earn money to buy you nice dresses, sweets or toys.

Ariel : How about daddy?  Daddy go work?

Me : Yes, of course

Kyla : Then we ask daddy buy for us loh!

Me : But daddy money needs to buy the food, your milk, pay for bills etc.  Daddy will not have money for sweets, toys and beautiful clothes.

Kyla : Then mommy, you go work lah!

Me : :( (

Sign!  If given a choice, these kids would rather choose sweets, toys and beautiful clothes rather than my company.  Am  a failure?  Should I re consider my intention to stay home with them??
